El cinema històric espanyol durant el franquisme (1940-1975). La negació de les històries perifèriques

En este artículo, resumen de un trabajo más extenso y no publicado aún, se plantea, en primer lugar, la definición de lo que acostumbramos a llamar (cine histórico). Así, en un período cinematográfico inscrito en el franquismo y, por tanto, tan mediatizado por coyunturas políticas, es más fácil acotar el análisis de los films estudiados. He dividido el estudio en décadas para poder describir los cambios que, a veces sutilmente, otras con másrotundidad, se fueron dando en el cine histórico español. La década de los 40 produjo un cine que, como instrumento divulgativo, encontró en este género y en la acaramelada visión del Renacimiento, su mejor arma para, manipulando el pasado, trascendentalizar los modelos morales del presente y, así, ejemplarizar. Es la década en la cual, a través de la crítica, se configura el concepto de (Estilo Nacional). En los años 50, se manifestó una mayor preocupación por los aspectos intrínsecamente cinematográficos y las preferencias temáticas se instalaron en el Descubrimiento de América o en la Guerra de la Independencia.En los sesenta, con la desaparición de la censura eclesiástica, sustituida por la clasificación moral y la sindical, se intenta imitar el cine foráneo y nos lanzamos a las coproducciones. Los setenta encontraron en el pasado la excusa para la parodia, el esperpento en las comedias o la llamada (tercera vía) del cine español.This essay, a summary of a more extensive study as yet unpublished, seeks, at the outset, to define what has become known as Spain's ((historical cinema)). The films thus classified can be clearly limited to a cinematographic period which unfolded during the Francoist regime, and which was, as a consequence, heavily influenced by the prevailing political situation. The study treats each decade separately in illustrating the changes, at times quite subtle, at others more dramatic, which Spanish ((historical cinema)) underwent. The forties gave rice to a cinema, a popularist media, which discovered in film and in an obsequious vision of the Renaissance its most effective weapon for manipulating history and transcendentalizing the morals of the day, and thus, for presenting a model moral behaviour. It was in this decade that the concept of a (National Style,) took shape. The fifties saw a greater concern for the intrinsically cinematographic and an interest in subjects such as the Discovery of the Americas and the Peninsula Wars. In the sixties, following the disappearance of censorship by the Church and its replacement by a system of ratings on a moral basis, steps were taken to imitate foreign cinema and many coproductions were undertaken. The seventies found in the past the excuse for parody, a sense of the absurd in comic productions - the so-called (third way) taken by Spanish cinema

El cementiri de Sant Nicolau: un disseny urbanístic original i únic a Catalunya

Aquest article té com a principal objectiu demostrar la singularitat del cementiri de Sant Nicolau de Sabadell, que, per les seves particulars característiques i estat de conservació, constitueix un model urbanístic propi de les necròpolis del segle XIX i és un exemple paradigmàtic de l’innovador concepte de l’urbanisme higienista vuitcentista, consegüent a la revolució industrial. Gràcies a la poca premeditació i el baix nivell d’intervencionisme amb els quals s’ha actuat al llarg de la història en aquest espai, el cementiri de Sant Nicolau de Sabadell conserva encara intactes els seus valors històrics, urbanístics i culturals i manté alhora una dimensió historicomonumental i una altra de contemporaneïtat d’ús, fets que el converteixen en un model únic respecte als seus homòlegs a Catalunya

Basement membrane-rich Organoids with functional human blood vessels are permissive niches for human breast cancer metastasis

Metastasic breast cancer is the leading cause of death by malignancy in women worldwide. Tumor metastasis is a multistep process encompassing local invasion of cancer cells at primary tumor site, intravasation into the blood vessel, survival in systemic circulation, and extravasation across the endothelium to metastasize at a secondary site. However, only a small percentage of circulating cancer cells initiate metastatic colonies. This fact, together with the inaccessibility and structural complexity of target tissues has hampered the study of the later steps in cancer metastasis. In addition, most data are derived from in vivo models where critical steps such as intravasation/extravasation of human cancer cells are mediated by murine endothelial cells. Here, we developed a new mouse model to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying late steps of the metastatic cascade. We have shown that a network of functional human blood vessels can be formed by co-implantation of human endothelial cells and mesenchymal cells, embedded within a reconstituted basement membrane-like matrix and inoculated subcutaneously into immunodeficient mice. The ability of circulating cancer cells to colonize these human vascularized organoids was next assessed in an orthotopic model of human breast cancer by bioluminescent imaging, molecular techniques and immunohistological analysis. We demonstrate that disseminated human breast cancer cells efficiently colonize organoids containing a functional microvessel network composed of human endothelial cells, connected to the mouse circulatory system. Human breast cancer cells could be clearly detected at different stages of the metastatic process: initial arrest in the human microvasculature, extravasation, and growth into avascular micrometastases. This new mouse model may help us to map the extravasation process with unprecedented detail, opening the way for the identification of relevant targets for therapeutic intervention
